Candle Care
We want you to get the best possible experience from your Luminessa candle and have detailed below our tips for proper candle care and maintenance. Due to the nature of hand-crafted candles, the surface may sometimes appear a little uneven. This does not impact the performance of the candle in any way.
THE FIRST BURN
To prevent tunneling, it is essential to allow sufficient burn time for the top layer of wax to melt and create an even melt pool. This creates a ‘memory’ for the candle to continue to burn correctly for the life of the candle.
WICK TRIMMING
Keep your candle wick trimmed to approx. 5mm to allow a clean and efficient burn every time. It helps to prevent an overly large flame and prevents soot from forming in and around the glass. Our wick trimmer is the best tool for maintaining the length of the wick. We recommend trimming before each burn, or after every 4 hours of burn time.
BURN TIME
A minimum burn time of 4 hours is recommended, then to allow enough time for the candle to return to room temperature before trimming and relighting.
SAFETY
Our candles have been subject to extensive testing to ensure they are safe to use. Please ensure you follow the additional safety advice below.
-
Always light your candle on a heat resistant, level surface
-
Keep your lit candle away from drafts, heat sources and anything flammable
-
Keep out of reach of children and pets
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended
-
Do not let a candle burn out entirely, extinguish the candle when a small amount of wax still remains and do not relight.
STORAGE
The candle wax and fragrance oils we use are sensitive to temperature and light. Please store candles in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. This prevents fading and discoloration.
